２５日、いよいよ今年初のライブです！
みなさん、、、。毎日寒いね♡
私の町では今日も雪が降りました！
みんなは風邪はひいてない？SAKURAはハワイに先週いたのをもう忘れちゃいそうだ〜〜！
時差ぼけがないのはありがたいけど、また携帯を片手に忙しなく動き回ってます！完璧主義で全力疾走しがちな性格を必死で避けようと毎日ハワイを何度も心に描くようにしています！
ハワイ、きれいだったなあ、、、。マカハ、YOKOHAMA、Chuns Reef, sandy beach, kailua , lanikai,,,。ああ、、
心拍数が落ち着いてきました。
ハワイから帰ってきて、なんだか住居にこだわりたくなってしまい、、、。
液晶の大きいテレビをゲットしたり、シーリングファンを探しに行ったり、いよいよ家に関しても妥協ができなくなってきて、、、。大好きなお家にしたくって、状況を整えてます！ハワイで一ヶ月半いい環境で暮らせて、家って、どれだけ居心地がいいかによって、すごく充実するんじゃないかと思ったの！家族団らんがテーマ！SAKURAの小さなお家のリビングも、いい感じになってきた〜〜！！
それと、、、。
SAKURAは２５日の初イベント出演に向けて、リハをしてきました！
今年は、バンド編成でライブをしていきたいなと思っていて、メンバーをひとりひとりみつけようと思います！亮君がピアニスト、キーボディストを連れてきてくれました。「あだっちゃん」という方です。これまた優しい人だ！！しかも演奏もSAKURAの好みにドンピシャな感じです♡ 今度２５日に来るみんなは楽しみにしててね！
今年のテーマは「バラード」です。
バラードモードなの。すてきなラブソングをみんなに贈れるように、
巣作り、早く終わらせれるようがんばろうっと！

Ukulele ぷあぷあ
そして帰国するまえに、Ukuleleぷあぷあもvisitすることができました！
写真はみなさんから見て左の方が店長の「けんさん」と私の右側にいらっしゃるのが「あきさん」です。
Ukuleleぷあぷあは、私の七里ケ浜の三井先生のミツレレのように、複数の個人ビルダーのウクレレを扱っているそうです。壁のウクレレは見応えがありました！場所はWaikiki BeachのといめんのPacific Beach Hotelの一階にあります！
SAKURAとしては、ウクレレのレッスンが初心者と中級者以上にわけられてて、初心者はfreeのレッスンをしているのがすごいと思いました！毎日通ってる近くのサーフショップのロコの店員さんもいます！広いスペースでウクレレレッスンが受けれるのが素敵だと思いました。しかもびっくりしたのが、指導してらっしゃる女性はフラガールなら知ってる、ジョージ・ナオペさんの姪っ子さんらしいです！
週に２日間、Bruce Shimabukuroがお店に来るらしいです！SAKURAは３度目の再会ができませんでした...。
今度オアフに来る時は、私も中級レッスン受けたいな、、、。どんななんだろう。

And just before winding down and returning to Japan, I got to stop by Ukulele Puapua!!
The guy in the left is Ken, the owner of the store, and the guy on my right, is Aki.
Ukulele Puapua holds a lot of self-employed ukulele builders ukuleles. That's why the ukuleles were so distinct from each other, and and they each had a very artistic look to them!! Like an ukulele museum!!! They're located At Pacific Beach Hotel which is located right across from the east end of Waikiki beach.
I thought it was so thoughtful of them to give out free lessons to beginners, and had also a class for advanced players too!! There's also a local guy who works at a nearby surf shop that comes in to get free lessons!!! They give out lessons at a nice spacious area, and it surprised me that the teacher there for the beginners class was lead by Hula's great human treasure, George Na’ope‘s Niece!!!
Also Bruce Shimabukuro comes in twice a week to give the advanced lessons!!
I had been acquaited with bruce about twice, by being in the same venue, but I didn't get to bump into him this time!! I wanna get a lesson from him!!! Maybe my next visit!!

Live from the Lawn!! でCyril Pahinui と Raiatea Helmを見たよ！！
そして夜は、Studio RimのD.J.の Rei Shibataさんに、Hawai'i State Art Museumに”Live from the Lawn"を見につれていってもらいました！
これは２００８年のGrammy Awardsの"Best Hawaiian Music Album"にノミネートされているアーティストの出演するライブでした！ハワイでは２８日にO.A.といってたかな？
Museumの芝生に座って、すっごくまじかでアーティストを見れたのは感激です！
フラももちろんあったから、もう、すごく楽しかったです。Daniel Hoは忙しくてこれなかったようです。
Cyril PahinuiとRaiateaを囲んでもり立てていたのは、George Kahumoku, Richard Ho'opi'i（はじめてみて感動しました！おじいさんなのに、すごい喉をしています！C.D.買いたい）, Da Ukulele Boys, Sterling Seaton, Dennis Kamkahi, Bobby Ingano, Owana Salazar（slack key guitar, steel guitar共にすてきでした！）, Martin Pahinuiでした！！
芝生に座ってゆったり見れる気持ち良さと、最後にみんなで手を繋いで歌ったことがとっても嬉しかったです！

I also got to see a concert, "Live from the Lawn". Rei Shibata from Studio Rim and I rushed over to Hawaii State Art Museum to check it out.
This was a free concert given from the 2008 Grammy Awards Nominees of the "Best Hawaiian Music Album"
We all sat on the lawn and saw great musicians all upfront and personal!!
There was also hula performances along with the artist performance, so that was fun!! Daniel Ho was busy, and couldn't fly over,,,. Zannen(too bad).
The artists at the concert were Cyril Pahinui, Raiatea(so beautiful, talented and sweet!!) , George Kahumoku Richard Ho'opi'i( He was my favorite, and surely he blew the whole audience away!! I will get his C.D.), Da Ukulele Boys, Sterling Seaton, Dennis Kamkahi, Bobby Ingano, Owana Salazar( her slack key, steel guitar was so impressive!!!) and Martin Pahinui!
And I was so happy to sing at the end, "Hawai'i Aloha" and hold hands!! That's always an awesome way to end a concert!!!
Had so much fun there. And ofcourse, the Zippy's bento that Rei and I grabbed "to go", was goooood too!!

Koaloha の オハナの仲間入りをさせていただくことになりました！
Blogに遊びに来てくれてるみなさん！E komo mai！
今朝、KoalohaとSAKURAで手を繋いで、Koaloha の ohanaとして、彼らのsupported artistとして、迎えられる事になりました。とっても、とっても嬉しいです。
正直予想していなくて、こんなに早く、おたがいの気持ちが固まったことは、ほんとうにdivinityのおかげとしかいいようがありません。Daniel Hoを通じてここに来て、そしてKoalohaのみなさんと数日間交流をもたせていただいて、そしてついに今朝、とっても感動する瞬間がおとずれました。その場にいた全員が、同じ想いで繋がることができて、心がほんとうに暖かくなりました。SAKURAにとって一生忘れられない宝物になりました。
ハンドルを握って帰る途中、いつもライブに来てくれて、たくさんの話をしてくれる、ファンのみなさんのことを思い出して、とっても愛おしくなりました。ホームステイさきのCasados家のみんなを思ったら、感謝で前が見えなくなるくらい涙がいっぱいで。
以前にすごく傷ついた出来事があって、許せなくて、悲しくて、人生で初めて「それでも愛せますか？その人に優しくできますか？」という局面からずっと進めずにいた事がありました。今朝、やっと、"so what?"と言える自分になれました。自分がどれくらい傷ついても、大きな心でhigher groundに立つ。その事件で学んでくれた事があれば、そして自分も許す事を学べたら、それもギフトになるんだと。乗り越えれずにつまずきつづけたポイントをサラ〜っとクリアできた朝でした。嫌なことがあれば、それを包み込むもっと大きなハートのキャパがあればいいんだと。逆に、キャパを広げないといけないタイミングだったからそういう出来事が来たんだと思えたの！！すっごいプレゼント！！とにかく、「北風と太陽」のように、あっさり私の鎧のスーツを脱がしてしまった愛いっぱいのKoaloha familyだったのでた、、、、。
新しい扉を開けるために古い扉を閉じる勇気があった自分を、褒めてあげたいです。
みなさんにもいつかシェアできる日が来ると思うのですが、Koalohaのみなさんがウクレレにこめた思いが、SAKURAが歌を歌い続けている理由と同じだった事、そして、「自分たちだけでなく、たくさんの人をしあわせにしたい」という気持ちが、お互いの中に確認できて、共に協力しあえたらという気持ちの熱さが同じだったことが、SAKURAはほんとうに嬉しかったです。
たくさんのalohaをいただいて、思い出すだけで、また泣けてきます。Koalohaのみなさんの暖かいハートに触れることができ、家族として迎えてもらえたことは、ほんとうに光栄なことです。

To all the approx. 5000 and so people who dilligently keep returning to my blog, thank you and welcome!!
This morning, as I made the trip to the Koaloha factory, I have been officially invited to Koaloha to become their supported artist!! It's unbelievable. Just AMAZING.
I wasn't really expecting things to happen the way they happened, but I truly do believe that divinity, God, love, universe, higher power... I don't know, have brought us together. I was brought to the Koaloha factory through Daniel Ho, and been seeing the folks everymorning three days in a row, and this morning, a very touching moment engulfed us all, and feeling such a connection and closeness had come over us. The feeling was so intense, and emotions so overwhelming. The room was filled with pure love.
As I was behind the wheels to make it back to my place, all the faces of peple I met at my concert, and shared love all welled up in my mind. Then I thought about the condo owner that ended us having me and my son at their place, when I thought of the love, I knew I was blessed, and had a hard time seeing thru my tears.
I had been hurt in the past years, could not forgive, only felt rejection. For the first time in life, I confronted myself " even thought that person did something devastating to you, can you still love? can you still be nice to that person?" But this morning, I was able to say, "so what?" No matter how hurtful the situation was, I will stand on a higher ground. Then the radio played all these love songs. The lyrics were like "I'll love you anyway~~~" It totally backed up what I was feeling at that moment it was amazing. If that person learned something by totally hurting me, and if I was able to let go of that anger and resentment, and forgave, then "pain" too, could turn to a "gift". I had finally made it over the big hump. Stewed in it for year and a half, but I successfully made it over that hump. From now on, even if I experience intense coldness from people, get stone walled no matter how hard I try, I will just simply work on me, and know I'm given the challenge because I need to make more room in my heart so I could accept more, and love more. Have that benevolent spirit, yeah? What a gift!! This morning will be remembered in my life for a lifetime. I needed unconditional love and acceptance, and my soul felt like I was home. I found home. I had closed the door to one thing, and surely enough, a new door opened. God, divinity, the universe, whoever or whatever people may call "it", has taken care of me again and again, and I never felt that love and presence, as strong as I did this morning.
Someday I may be able to share this story with you, what I can tell you is, the feelings and determination that was the backbone of the people at Koaloha was in exact sequence with what I was I singing for.Not only just for yourself, but to make "others happy". And being able to represent Koaloha, I am so privileged, the warmth and passion was in harmony, and I am excited about the days to come!!
I received so much aloha from them, just recalling that moment, I can't stop but be emotional!! How nice it was to be touched like that, and to be an artist and ohana of Koaloha. I am just so privileged.

Hula!
いよいよ４日で日本に帰るタイミングになってきました。
短かったな、、、。一ヶ月半。たくさんの人に出逢ったな、、、。ハワイ。
さらに知りたい事が増えた。何が学べたかは、まだわからないけど、日本に帰って、じわじわ感じるんだと思う！！それも楽しみだな！
そしてそれをみんなとシェアできるのはライブ！だからワンマンライブをまた組み立て始めてるので、関東方面のみなさんも楽しみにしててね！
Blogも英訳をスタートします！i-tunes americaでもSAKURAの作品が扱われてるのと、海外からの問い合わせ、ファンメールをいただくので、それにも応えていけたらと思います！

So I'm leaving Hawaii in 4days!! I was here for a month and a half, but it felt real short. Hmm. Gotta come here more often.
I think I saw a lot, visited many places and met a lot of people, but I guess the experience will sink in eventually! Looking forward to that!
And I get to share all those experiences at my concert! So I'm starting to book concerts, so fans in the Tokyo area, I'll let you know soon!
I'm also gonna be diligent with writing my blog in english! Now that I found out my music is available at i-tunes America, and lately I've been receiving sweet e-mails from my fans outside of Japan. So, I'll begin translations in hopes of sharing the alohas across the globe.

I joined the Waikiki Community Center, and attended hula classes by Kumu Nalani. Rei came down to join us at the community center!

Koalohaはおっきなファミリー Koaloha is a big sweet family!!
Koalohaは一点一点手で作っていて、フレットの貝殻の部分とかも、細かい注文ができて、やっぱり手で作るので、すごく膨大な愛情と時間が込められてるんだなってわかりました。
地域とも密着していて、コミュニティーのためにもいろいろとイベントを主催しています！Locallyにちゃんと活動をしているところが、SAKURAはすごくリスペクトを感じました！！
Koalohaウクレレのヘッドの部分、そしてロゴの部分にはとくべつな意味があり、それも素敵だなと思いました！それはみなさんが工場でぜひ教えてもらってください！
ごはんも、お昼になると、全員で二階に行って食べます。お話をしてる最中息子のAlanさんが繰り返し言ってたのは、「僕たちは全部ファミリーで活動する。ごはんも、お昼になったら、全員で食べるんだ。」って言ってました。世界中にKoalohaのウクレレがディストリビュートされているのに、しっかりした芯の強さと、ファミリーを大切にするところ、できるかぎりみんなや地域の人にアロハを広げているその姿勢に感動しました。ブログを読んでる人は気づいてると思うけど、SAKURAにとって家族、愛情、やさしさ、誠実さはビジネスにおいてもプライベートにおいても、と〜〜〜ってもと〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜っても重きを置いている部分なの！！で、SAKURAはKoalohaの人たちがとっても好きになりました♡
社長のパパKoaloha自作の曲でもてなしてくれました！Koalohaのスポンサーを受けているアーティスト達ももちろんファミリーとして大切にされています。Roy Sakuma, Herb Ohta Jr.や、Daniel Ho, Raiatea Helm,日本でDJでアーティストのVance Kなど日本でもおなじみのアーティストばかりです！なのに、みんなきさくで、優しい人たちばかりでした！Super Ukulele Jamで私を見たとはいえ、Daniel Hoに紹介されて突然現れた私にもAlohaをくれました！私もここのfeatured artistの仲間入りができたらいいのにな！！

So all the ukuleles here , the little embedded shells and stones on the frets are designed and hand crafted by the folks here yeah. This requires lots of alohas and long hours spent on each ukulele!!
They also seem to be real active with the community and do local events. I have a lot of respect for people who do stuff for the community. Not all business yeah? But being sure to return aloha to the community is impressive. Just hearing from Alan how they do stuff locally, my amount of respect for them sky rocketed!!!
They also have a special meaning for the seven pointy design that's at the head. You should find out the meaning of their logo when you make that visit!
"We all go upstairs and eat together at lunch time" Alan told me. Family seemed to be very important to the Koaloha folks. I was amazed by how grounded they were in their thinking, and put emphasis on "Family". With the wide distributions that they have all over the world, these ukuleles seemed to be created with "wood" with craftsmanship, and with the same immense amount of "aloha". Myself being a musician with my own label, I choose to work with people with integrity. It's very important to me that the people I work with are both skilled, and got good heart. So,,,. I guess you could tell,,,, I loved these folks at Koaloha!!!
The Koaloha people have a band that they put together to entertain us! The song they sang and performed for us was written by Papa Koaloha. I also was estatic to find out about the artists they sponsor, and I know they get treated like family!! They are Roy Sakuma, Herb Ohta Jr., Daniel Ho, Raiatea Helm, Vance-K from Kawaihae. Ooh! I'd like to be pictured on their wall someday as the Koaloha family as well!!!

Koaloha のウクレレたち Koaloha ukuleles
でもウクレレはコアの木だけじゃなく、マンゴーの木、アボカドの木、いろんな木でつねに、無限にウクレレのサウンドを追求してるそうです！！びっくり！
SAKURAが長年愛用しているミツレレ（Ukulele studio shichirigahama)のLanaちゃんはレースウッドでできています。どちらかというと、ハープみたいなサウンド。バラードもいけちゃう優秀な子です！
でも今回Koalohaのものを使ってみたいと思って、いろいろ触らせてもらいました！
カスタムで作られる子は、お客さんの音の注文によって、いろんな木を繋ぎ合わせて、欲しいサウンドを追求するらしいです！！木が素材で、服を作るみたいにウクレレが作られてたなんて驚きです！
SAKURAはとくに写真左端のコアでできたTenorウクレレが気に入りました！そして写真右下のイチバン薄い色のマンゴーの木でできた子も、暖かく、かつ透明感と少しエッジがあり、いいなと思いました！
これからどの子がSAKURAの次のパートナーになるのか、パパKoalohaの息子さんのAlanと相談していこうと思ってます！

Did you know that ukuleles aren't just made out of Hawaiian Koa wood, but are also made with mango trees, avocado trees etc.!? I sniffed all the tree hunks that were laying around wondering if they smelled sweet!!!
The Mitsulele ukuleles that I've been using(from Ukulele Studio Shichirigahama) is made out of lace wood. It has a harp like sound. really resonant, sweet, cute. I love playing ballads with the ukulele too. And I was very amused with their beautiful ukuleles, and got to touch them all!
All the custom made ukuleles have custom made sounds as well!!! Depending on what kind of sound the person wants, they determine what wood to use!! Just like dresses, right? Choose the fabric and sew them together to get your original look!!! I was blown away by the fact that all kinds of wood were fused together to create "the sound that the person wants". Woah!
I particularly liked the Tenor ukulele that's on the far left, top row! Also the far right bottom row mango wood ukulele had a flamboyant sound, and yet had a crisp clarity, and I thought it was such a cutie!!!
So which ukulele's gonna be my orchestra for the days to come? I think I wanna pick one out with some help from Alan!

ここは工場の中です。ツアーをもうしこめば、誰でも工場見学をさせてもらえます。
Trolleyの停留所もできて、たくさんの人が毎日ここをおとずれて、ウクレレを作る行程を見せてもらう事ができます！！
SAKURAもウクレレ作りの工場は初めてだったので、どうやってあの固いコアの木をウクレレにするのか興味しんしんで見入ってしまいました！
ウクレレを７年間弾いているけど、どうやって作られるかは、初めて知りました！
これは工場で働いてるみなさんです！みんないい人ばっかり！

Recently they made a Trolley stop at the Koaloha Factory on the Red Line, so that makes it very convenient yeah?
It was actually my first time to see the process of a ukulele being made, and I was amused by how they made curves of the hips of the ukulele with that hard Hawaiian Koa wood!!! Wow!!
It's been 7years since I picked up the instrument, but saw for the first time what it looks like "disected"!!! or rather, "put together" I guess.

Koalohaの工場 に行ってきました！ I visited the Koaloha Ukulele Factory
今日はKoalohaウクレレの工場に行ってきました！
ここはパパKoaloha, ママKoalohaそして息子さん達、そしてたくさんのオハナ（家族）がウクレレを作ってるところです！
とても仲良しのアーテイストDaniel Hoさん http://www.danielho.jp/ の紹介でKoaloha familyのみなさんにお会いすることができました！
Daniel Hoさんをまだ聴いた事が無い人！彼のトラディショナルハワイアンのスラッキーもいいですが、SAKURAのfavorite albumは”Coolest Drop of Rain"です！彼のソロは全部持ってるんだけど、ほんとうにウクレレをありとあらゆる音楽と融合させていて、ほんとうにマジシャンみたいなアーティストです！！声も透明感があって、すっごく大好きです。飽きのこない美しさを封じ込めた音作りがすごく好きです！
SAKURAがウクレレとともに飽くなき探求の音楽の旅をしはじめたのも、Danielと友達なれてから彼がシェアしてくれた型にはまらないウクレレプレイのかっこよさの影響です！すごくsweetな人で、気さくなのに、この人はGrammy AwardsのHawaiianカテゴリーの常連です！！！今年もノミネートにあがってます！！
で、Danielが紹介してくれた人達は間違いなくソウルフルでいい人達に違いない！！類は友をよぶ。私はほんとうにBlessed(恵まれてる）と、今日も感謝しました！

Today I visited the "Koaloha" Ukulele Factory!
This is the place where Papa Koaloha and Mama Koaloha and their sons, and many honorary family employees create the world famous Koaloha ukuleles!!
My good friend Daniel Ho http://www.danielho.com/ had reffered me to them, and finally I got to meet the whole Koaloha family!!
By the way, some of you folks who have not yet heard Daniel Ho's music, "you're missing out!!!!" BIG TIME!! I love his traditional Hawaiian Albums and his Slack key albums, but my favorite is "Coolest Drop of Rain" album. I have all of his solo albums, and his versatility and experimentation with ukulele has given me so much inspiration throughout the years. He's just like a magician to me!! He has a clear crystal voice, and his music is both relaxing and agile!! His sound producing is the bomb.
Since I've been acquainted with Daniel, he's given me so much inspiration as a musician and as a great person with great personality and sincerity! Daniel Ho is also nominated this year( like last year!) for the 50th Grammy Awards with the Hawaiian category. Congrats!!!
So, when Daniel hooked me up to the folks at Koaloha, I knew "hey! these people are probably sweet and soulful like Daniel!!" and they were!!! In Japan we say "Like attracts like"!! And that is true. I have to say, I felt blessed today that I got to meet with this one big family of sweet people!!
